Noah's Ark offers several programs to families through HCWA. Programs can vary in different parts of the State, so contact 8823 8600 to enquire about services in your local area. Services offered under HCWA can include:

Preschoolers with Autism: An Education and Skills Programme for Parents
The “Preschoolers with Autism” programme is an evidence-based effective parent education programme that runs for 22 weeks. It is specifically for parents and carers of young children who have recently been diagnosed with Autism. It brings you and your children together with professionals to gain practical education and management ideas and increase your understanding of autism and the challenges it brings. Developed in Australia and extensively tried and tested, the programme helps you to understand autism spectrum disorder and how it affects child development. In the program each small group session is followed by an individual family visit over a 22 week period. Topics covered include behaviour and behaviour management, how to teach new skills, communication, social impairment and play. You will receive a Parent’s Manual which covers the contents of the program and is a useful family resource.

Individual Sessions with a Noah’s Ark Early Childhood Intervention Worker
You may prefer to have individual sessions with a Noah’s Ark Early Childhood intervention worker experienced in working with children with Autism. These individual sessions may include:

Your key worker can visit you and your child at home to work with you both in the familiar environment of the
          family home
Childcare and kindergarten visits
Individual programs
Written materials of relevance to your child’s additional needs
Information about the community services available to you
Specific therapy or teaching sessions designed to help your child develop skills
Helping you and your child with transitions into child care, kindergarten, or school
Potential for ordering of equipment to support your child’s program at home
