Early Childhood Intervention Programs for Infants and Children up to 6 years of age

Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS) support families who have a child aged from 0 to 6 years who have a significant disability or delay. Noah’s Ark offer Early Childhood Intervention programs in most regions of Victoria. Services are accessed via the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Central Intake system in your region.

The aim of these services is to provide parents with resources that support their child’s development and ability to participate in family and community life. Services are focused on families supporting the child and family in daily settings and activities. Many programs will be home based. Visiting children at Kindergarten and Child Care is also a priority. Some programs work with groups of parents and children on common areas of concern or interest.

Families accessing Early Childhood Intervention will be allocated a key worker (sometimes called a family support worker) who acts as the main contact for the family. The key worker will consult with the family to determine their hopes and wishes and to identify a range of services to assist them in fulfilling them. The service is family driven, rather than professionals deciding for you. We recognise that families are the experts on their own child and ensure that service priorities are set by them. Our staff have skills to facilitate each child’s development and to work with families to ensure that they can participate fully in family life.
