Course Overview
As Inclusion of all children becomes more mainstream, teachers and educators are finding that more children with communication disorders are being included.
This seminar is written by an experienced speech pathologist and looks at the type of disorders you may encounter in your program; understanding augmentative communication and ideas to support the development of communication in young children.
Participants are encouraged to contribute questions between seminars to enable individual program needs can be met.

- Discuss how language learning develops in the preschool years and the role of the educator in supporting this.
- Differentiate between specific areas of speech and languagedevelopment.
- Describe the communication difficulties children in their programs demonstrate and begin to interpret how these difficulties impact on child participation.
- Use practical strategies to support children with speech and language difficulties to understand and/or get their message across.
- Learn about visual supports and how to use them in your program.
