Last week at the 2025 Occupational Therapy Australia national conference, Noah's Ark Practice Coach & Psychologist Kylie Matusewicz and Occupational Therapist Danica Smith presented a session titled: What do children want from therapy? And how well are we listening? Here's Kylie reflecting on the conference.
"Just wrapped up an inspiring few days at the OT Australia conference, 'Collaborate and Connect,' and our minds are buzzing!" Kylie said.
"It was an honor to present and also to absorb so many thought-provoking sessions. A recurring theme was the profound impact of collaboration – amongst ourselves, but crucially, with all those we work alongside, emphasising co-designed interventions and impactful advocacy. I was particularly struck by the rich discussions around First Nations Peoples' unique approaches to social-emotional wellbeing and how we can thoughtfully bridge Western and First Nations perspectives.
"We also delved into the exciting possibilities of integrating AI into our practice – recognising the importance of seeing it as a powerful enabler and 'thought partner,' while ensuring it never overshadows the human connection that is foundational to our work and supports best outcomes.
"The conference also provided important reminders – which are especially important in times of systemic disruption and change – of the invaluable work we do, why it matters so much, and what's possible if we're united, if we connect and collaborate. Feeling incredibly grateful and re-energised!"
