Noah’s Ark appoints Penny Callaghan as Chief Executive Officer

Noah’s Ark is pleased to announce the appointment of Penny Callaghan as its next Chief Executive Officer.

Penny will succeed long-standing CEO John Forster, whose final working day will be Friday 26 June 2026, with Penny formally commencing in the role on Monday 29 June 2026.

The appointment follows a robust external recruitment and succession process led by the Board and reflects Noah’s Ark’s commitment to continuity, strong leadership, and long-term strategic growth.

Penny brings extensive executive leadership experience across the not-for-profit sector, including roles with organisations such as Guide Dogs Victoria and Life Saving Victoria, where she was part of highly engaged, community-based service networks. She also brings strong personal ties to her local community and a deep appreciation for the role community connections play in improving outcomes for children and families. As Noah’s Ark’s Chief Operating Officer, Penny has developed a strong understanding of the organisation’s operations, strategic priorities, services, and partnerships.

Board President Vikki Morris said the appointment positions Noah’s Ark strongly for the future.

“Penny is an experienced and highly respected leader with deep sector expertise and a strong understanding of Noah’s Ark’s purpose, services, and communities,” Ms Morris said.

“Following a comprehensive external recruitment process, the Board was confident Penny was the right leader to guide Noah’s Ark into its next chapter.”

“Her appointment reflects both the strength of our leadership capability and the Board’s confidence in Noah’s Ark’s future direction.”

Ms Morris also acknowledged the importance of a thoughtful and seamless transition.

“John and Penny will work closely together throughout June to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for children, families, employees, and partners ahead of Penny commencing as CEO on Monday 29 June 2026.”

The Board also acknowledged John Forster’s significant contribution to Noah’s Ark and the broader sector through his many years of leadership and service.

Penny Callaghan said she was honoured to be appointed to the role.

“I look forward to continuing our work with children, families, employees, and partners as we build on Noah’s Ark’s strong foundation and continue shaping a strong future together.”

As part of the transition into the CEO role, Penny will spend time engaging with stakeholders and helping shape Noah’s Ark future direction and strategic opportunities.

John Forster welcomed the appointment and said the organisation was in very capable hands.

“Penny brings strong leadership, sector experience, organisational knowledge, and genuine care for our people and purpose,” Mr Forster said.

“I am confident Noah’s Ark will continue to thrive under her leadership.”
