About this Activity

The Curious Eaters group was developed to empower parents who are experiencing concerns and challenges with their child at mealtimes. The group was created in response to common parent issues raised with early childhood practitioners around feeding and mealtimes. It is designed for families who are concerned about their child’s limited food variety, picky eating, volume of food intake, dependence on screens, disinterest in trying new foods, behaviours at mealtimes, and/or stress at mealtimes. The content is based on current evidence about best practice in supporting children during mealtimes, using a responsive feeding approach.

Parent Involvement

Parents/carers are an integral part of the program. The group offer comprises parent only telehealth sessions led by a speech pathologist and an individual coaching session with the parent and child at a mealtime.

To get the most out of this group your child will need to...

  • Be able to participate in a mealtime at home with their caregiver/s for one session via video telehealth.

Outcomes of the program:

  • Improve child and parent confidence during mealtimes to 'spark' curiosity
  • Increase parent knowledge around child feeding and family mealtimes
  • Increase child independence at mealtimes
  • Improve child participation in mealtimes in and out of the home.
